Full service or not?

Emma seems confused as to what type of gas station this is. First she looks for the attendant to fill the tank:

Then decides to either be a modern woman, or that the wait was just to long:

Emma's baby doll

Emma has finally become interested in her dolls. Here she is putting her twins in her stroller for a push around the house:

Here she is feeding her babies (make sure to note the realistic sounds Emma makes while performing this task):

Zoo Emma

No matter how often we go, Emma just loves the zoo. At our little local zoo, Emma has her favorites; feeding the llamas:

Up close and personal with the lion (mommy swears she isn't trying to feed Emma to the lions, there is glass between them):

Petting the goats (she loves to run from goat to goat screaming "That goat"):

And finally, chasing the snow leopard, if only there weren't so many people blocking her way (the snow leopard is rarely visible in its habitat, hence its popularity):

Child abuse?

If Emma hadn't done this to herself, we would be VERY bad parents.

Non-traditional methods

Emma likes to eat corn on the cob, but she's not particularly interested in doing it the way that the rest of us do. She prefers to gnaw on the end, and sometimes she'll even eat some of the corn!

Which way is up?

Emma loves being upside down!

The Detroit Zoo

We went to the Detroit Zoo over the weekend with Mimi and Papa. Emma had a wonderful time. She had a lot of fun pointing out the animals.

She's a big fan of tigers, and was very sad that the one at the zoo seemed to be napping the whole time we were there.

She was also VERY impressed by the macaques.

And, when we tried to take a picture, she mostly wanted to keep going and look at more animals!

Apparently we stumbled upon Jurassic Park on our way back to the car. Emma was a bit put off, and refused to even touch the dino!

We had a fantastic time at the Detroit Zoo!

Emma's playhouse

Emma got a playhouse for the backyard over the weekend. She really likes being in her new "home":

There must be an easier way to get the mail:

Finally checking for mail:

And making some repairs around the house (she is holding a toy screwdriver):

Emma at Huckleberry Railroad

We took Emma to Huckleberry Railroad and Crossroads Village to see the train and the rides. She mostly didn't like being there. Here she is with daddy in the antique train car:

Here she is with mommy on the carousel, right before she started freaking out and we had to have the ride stopped:

The only part Emma really liked was seeing the animals. Here she is with the goats:

With the chickens:

And finally, with the cows:

Fun with Papa

Mimi and Papa came to visit on Sunday. Emma loves to play and tease her Papa. Here she is taking the screws to Papa:

A couple of random pictures...

Us playing with Emma's friend Maria. Emma is the one on top of the car, of course (and this is her new favorite way to ride the car.)

Also, Emma likes to ride her stuffed lion. Now if only we can get her to like her rocking horse!

Luau!

She hasn't perfected the luau yet, but she's working on it.

(If you can't hear, there's luau music from Mickey Mouse going on in the background.)

Practicing

Emma was practicing what she's going to do when she's home from school in the future. While she wasn't sick at all, she really seemed to enjoy laying on the couch and watching the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse...

And she also practiced eating Mommy's ice cream.

4-H Children's Garden

We took Emma to the MSU 4-H Children's Garden this past weekend. It's a really cool place for little kids, and Emma liked it a lot!

She really enjoyed sitting next to the pond, watching the spraying water...

Wandering through the hedge maze...

And, again, sitting by the pond - but this time looking for tadpoles (which she really likes, since she saw them in a TV show)

Looking out over the "Monet Bridge"

She was less impressed with the sheep, despite generally being a big fan.

And she had zero interest in having her picture taken on the butterfly bench.

All in all, we had a great time!

Emma's sugar rush

Mimi bought Emma a special cupcake the other day. It had a ring with her new favorite animal on it, a hippo. At first she didn't know which she wanted more, the ring or cupcake:

Eventually the cupcake, or at least the whipped cream on top, won out. Here she is stuffing her face:

Eventually she gave up all pretense of wanting anything other than whipped cream. Here she was getting a special treat that she gets only from Mimi, and she was so nice, she even shared a small bit with Mimi:

Visit to Mimi & Papa

Mommy and Emma went to visit Mimi and Papa this week and boy did she have fun (when she wasn't knocked out by her cold). Here she is getting a new form of ride in a laundry basket from Papa:

Here she is in yet another laundry basket ride, the Papa tractor pull:

Emma also tried corn on the cob for the first time (or at least the first time that she actually ate any) and she loved it:

Thanks for the visit Mimi and Papa and for the great rides.

Emma's Personal Amusement Park

Emma has discovered an amusement park ride right at home, Hurling Laundry Baskets. She can't seem to get enough of it:

She also loves the Laundry Basket Spaceships. Poor daddy gets very tired operating this ride.

Some random pictures

This is a bit of a random post - just some pictures we thought people might enjoy.

Here's Emma, sitting on her shape sorter with Sammy attentively waiting for... something?

Emma with a handful of whipped cream.

Emma and daddy, right before another ride in the laundry basket.

And, finally, Emma chasing Cassidy around the yard with the pool net (as you might imagine, Emma enjoys this game a lot more than Cassie does).
