Happy Halloween

Emma got to go Trick or Treating for the first time this year.  And had a wonderful time.  Here are pictures of all the fun:

Here is their daytime outfits (thanks to Aunt Stephanie for them):

There was face painting at pre-school today.  Emma made a great cat:

Here is monkey Sarah (thanks again to Aunt Stephanie):

Both girls on our way out:

Sarah's version of trick or treating was staying in the stroller and letting Emma beg for a second piece for her sister:

And here is Emma at one of our stops:

And look how much candy Emma got.  She will be bouncing off the walls for weeks to come:

Happy Halloween everyone!

Dancing Fool

Emma still really enjoys her dance class and has now begun a ballet and tap class.  Here she is getting into first position:

Practicing her teddy bear routine for her recital in December:

 With her tap shoes:

And here is a little clip of her favorite part of the tap shoes, walking around so they make noise:

Feeding fun

Emma is a great big sister. She loves to help with everything to do with Sarah, including feeding her:

Sarah is not such a good eater.  Mostly she ends up wearing all of her food:

Emergency!

During our Saturday outing, Emma got to see different emergency vehicles.  Here she is with the fire engines:

She might need some leg extensions to be the driver:

 A new way to ride:

 Driving the police car:

We aren't sure it is legal to have 2 drivers:

And hopefully the portion of the police car we NEVER see our children in:

And, of course, Emma's favorite part, the K9 unit:

Halloween day fun

We spent the day today doing fun stuff together around town.  Emma had her science lesson, where she had a wonderful time learning how to make a volcano:

Then we took her to Boo at the Zoo and she got to wear her costume; Cinderella:

Here she is at the zoo getting her face painted:

And naturally she got a blue doggie (she LOVES the color blue):

Here she is enjoying the zoo hayride:

Pumpkin decorating time!

We went pumpkin-picking two weekends ago, and decided that it was about time to decorate the pumpkins that we found.  Here's Emma, getting all set to decorate.  Daddy was ordered to carve the two big ones, and Emma decorated the three small pumpkins with stickers and markers.

She offered to help get some of the pumpkin guts out, but decided it was too yucky to do much of it!

After we decorated all of the pumpkins, the girls put on their pumpkin hats (that Mommy knitted for them!) for a photo shoot.  Here's our favorite shot of Sarah:

And then the only picture where you can see both girls at the same time.  Apparently Emma has a pumpkin for a body.

Note also that one pumpkin has three eyes, and one has six.  Emma made some interesting artistic choices, and Daddy was happy to carry them out!

Science!

Emma is enrolled in science classes at the local kids science museum.  The topic for this session is dinosaurs and Emma had lots of fun digging like a paleontologist:

 And putting the "bones" together:

Solid food

Sarah started solid foods this weekend.  Here she is getting ready for her first bite of rice cereal:

Actually eating (or not as the case may be):

Here she is when it was over.  It was not a success:

Family outing

We all went to a pumpkin patch at a place called Peacock Road Tree Farm.  Here she is with the pumpkins she picked.  She was very specific that mommy and daddy got big ones; her and Sarah little ones (mommy also wants everyone to notice her adorable pumpkin hat that she made):

And here she is hauling out her hand picked pumpkins to the car:

But the pumpkin patch was only the beginning of the fun.  Emma got to ride a pony:

She got to pet the goats in the petting zoo (and the goats got out of their pen, so Emma had a great time chasing one down):

While we were there, a potbelly pig gave birth to 5 piglets.  Anyone who was nearby was recruited to help get the piglets and mom into a new pen.  Here is Emma with a 1 hour old piglet:

And best of all were the pig and turkey races.  Emma got to help sweep the pigs along:

And when the sweeping didn't work out well, she got to pull the rope to open the gates for the pigs:

 What a great day!

4 month check-up

Sarah went in for her 4 month check-up.  She is doing really well.  Sarah is 24 1/2 inches tall, weighs 14 1/2 pounds and her head is 16 1/2 inches.  She is in the 50th percentile across the board.  Compared to her sister, Sarah is huge; she is almost 2 inches taller and weighs 1 pound more than Emma did at the same age!

Sitting up

Sarah can sit up on her own:

Alas, Humpty Dumpty must fall:

Her longest stretch has been about 1 minute before falling.  But she is trying hard to stay up :)

Ready to go

Emma is always on the move now.  Ready for school with her little backpack:

And riding her new bike, which she has actually learned how to pedal:
