Snow Fun

We finally got enough snow for Emma to go out and play. She had a wonderful time trying out her new sled. Here is mommy pulling her in it:

Here she is sliding along in the sled while being pulled:

And finally, here she is actually sledding down the driveway (mommy stayed in the street on car lookout duty):

It's a girl!

We went in for Melissa's 20-week ultrasound today, and found out that we're having a girl! Her name will be Sarah Elizabeth O'Shea, and she's due somewhere around June 1st (about a week earlier than the doctors originally thought). Here are two pictures from the ultrasound, and also a short video.

World Traveler Part 2

Mommy found this adorable outfit for Emma. Daddy thinks she looks like a little girl from the French Countryside, so her world travels, while remaining in Michigan, continue:

Papa rides

Ever since discovering "horseback" rides over Christmas, Emma loves to ride any willing back. Her new favorite appears to be Papa.

Thanks for the ride Papa.

Amusing

Emma has a wonderful time playing in the dog crates, especially when she can trap a dog inside with her. Sammy doesn't appear to enjoy it nearly as much:

Our little chef

Daddy cooked dinner the other day, and Emma decided to help out. She really liked wearing her apron, and was happy to model it for the camera. (Over, and over, and over.)

She even offered to help daddy cook, but didn't have the right cooking implement for the job. Even so, we let her supervise!

Construction safety

Emma likes to help her daddy out when he's building things, but she ALWAYS uses proper safety equipment. She decided to test out some new safety goggles, just in case her dad needs help sawing something.

These ones were deemed to be too big for her, but given her heritage we're sure she will grow into them!

Emma's train table

Emma really enjoys playing with trains, but the carpet in our basement causes the trains to fall off the tracks when she plays with them. Since I was looking for a project, I decided to build her a table to play on. Emma certainly enjoyed playing with the table itself - she kept trying to crawl through the frame before I set it up!

The table top comes off so that you can put different tops on. Right now it's just a painted piece of wood, but I'm going to find a piece of whiteboard so she can also draw on it. She seems to like Legos, so maybe one day when she's old enough I'll make a Lego board top.

Here's a shot of Emma and Cassidy admiring the finished product. The surface of the table is 3' x 4', and there's a raised lip around the edge so that runaway trains can't escape.

Emma helped me set up a bunch of tracks to test it out.

Our little engineer made sure that the trains ran smoothly around all of it, while Cassidy looked on. (Cassie can't help out because of her lack of thumbs, but she's a good manager.)

Another shot of Emma surveying her domain.

And, finally, one from the side. It's about the correct height for her right now (the surface is 18" off the ground), and she'll hopefully be able to use it for quite a while!

It was a really fun project for me, and Emma loves it! It was definitely a nice way to spend a couple of cold winter days!

Book worm

Daddy got a new bookshelf and Emma has given new meaning to the term book worm:
