Party!

Sarah had her birthday party yesterday.  And boy did everyone have a lot of fun.  Here is the party prep.

The girls testing out the kids table:

The Doc McStuffins balloon:

Turns out Sarah liked the smaller doc balloon better:

The party banner (it is hard to tell, but it is a doc one):

The food (it was a lot of pizza):

Party games!  First came Pin the Bandage on Stuffy.  Sarah refused the blindfold, but she still didn't quite get it in the right spot:

Emma had a ton of fun blindfolded:

Turns out most of the kids couldn't do it well, but they had fun trying:

After Pin the Bandage came the pinata.  It was the hit of the party:

The candy horde:

And finally, the best part, the cake:

Sarah seemed more interested in getting her hands on the Doc toys on it, and the frosting.  But boy was she angry when the wind blew her candles out before she could:

After all the sugar was playtime.  Sarah had a very good time playing and dancing with Benton (who, despite his big appearance, is 5 weeks younger than Sarah).  We might need to keep an eye out on these two; at one point during the dancing, Benton put his arm around Sarah's waist!

Making a mess

What the girls seem to do best.  So mommy decided to have a playdate where the whole goal was to make a big mess.  The girls seemed to take it to heart:

Emma and her friend Maria really enjoyed themselves:

What a colorful driveway we now have.  Thankfully, it is supposed to rain soon.

Chuck E Cheese

The girls got to go to Chuck E Cheese with some of their friends yesterday.  Boy did they have fun, for 3 hours!

Sarah particularly loved this little motorcycle:

We were there so long the girls got to see Chuck E. three times.  Sarah eventually got into Head, Shoulders, Knees & Toes (or at least the toes):

And after Emma moved to a more helpful position, Sarah got beyond stomping her feet when she was happy to doing all the pieces:

Finally, Sarah seemed to like this Derby horse, at least temporarily:

Blocks

Sarah is learning to love Legos. She struggles to get the little ones to connect, but tries hard.  Mommy uses it to help her learn colors (mommy is tired of all colors being purple, even though she knows better):

Twins

Well, sort of.  They both insisted on wearing their Doc outfits on the same day!

Enjoying the oudoors

Sarah is finally big enough to get on the double glider with her sister:

Quiet really isn't in Emma & Sarah's vocabulary.  But at least you never have to wonder if they are having fun.

Also over the weekend Sarah got her outdoor birthday presents so she could enjoy them in the good weather.  Here she (and, of course Emma) are enjoying their new "roller coaster" ride:

And Sarah got a new car from Mimi & Papa (thanks!) which she is learning how to drive (everyone clear the area, she isn't good at steering yet):

Fun with Friends

We went to the local nature center for story time and a walk with friends earlier this week.

Listening intently to the information about flowers:

Looking for animals in the water:

Walking in a line (you notice who the leader is, don't you)?

Girl time

The girls all went for lunch at Emma's favorite, Culver's.  They sure do love their ice cream:

Cup stacking

Emma loves to stack cups.  She has started making castles (with moats):

Here is what she can do with a little help from Daddy:

And then there is Sarah's version of helping:

As you can see, Emma wasn't so pleased with this help!

Puppet show

Emma is starting to show a lot of imagination.  Mommy has some Doc McStuffins cut outs (their original use didn't work out so well) so we made sock puppets, which Emma is loving.  Here she is putting on a puppet show:

Sadly, the repertoire was every character (all 5 of them) asking for everyone's names.  But it is a start.

The, since Doc is her favorite, Sarah had to get in on the act:
